The Power of Decree
Others call them confessions or affirmations. They are also great terms. I choose decree for it is a declaration of spiritual and prophetic power. The issue is not can you name it but do you practice this as part of your spiritual discipline?
A decree made in the name of the King will not return void (read Esther) A decree is an issue or order with the weight of authority behind it. The Word is not a magic formula, wishful thinking or a mantra, but a spiritual revelation of Kingdom authority. It is the highest statement of truth on the planet.
Even the German word for decree (diktat) means an authoritative statement or decree that cannot be opposed, against a defeated enemy. Other meanings include: a determination by one having power, deciding what is to be done or to take place; edict, law; authoritative rule or decision. This is why we want to speak the Word forth over our lives and circumstances. Our tongue must speak His truth, our confession and affirmation of the promises of God will change us!

Job 22:28 says "You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established to you. Light shall shine on your ways."
The Hebrew for decree means to cut off, cut, destroy, separate. So when we decree prosperity for example - we declare a cutting off of poverty, a separating and destroying of lack and poverty mentality. Psalm 148:6 tells us that His (God's) decree will never be revoked. There is certainly something powerful and prophetic in the speaking of the Word of God and declaring His truth over your life and circumstances. No wonder we are told to treasure His Words and have them fill our mouth.

The Bible says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof" (Proverbs 18:21).
If there are areas in your life that need changing, your tongue is the best tool to use to bring about that transformation. James tells us (James 3:1-8) that even the very course of your life is set on fire or directed by what we speak. Humility always agrees with God. Make the following confessions daily and the promises of God will manifest in your life.
We know the Word of God is well able to profoundly influence your life. It is an eternal and spiritual Word that carries an anointing. It is not mere 'words'. It is a covenant Word. In Christ you have an eternal and unbreakable covenant. All of His promises are “Yes” and “Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20) to you! Daily declaration of the Word will strengthen your inner man, prepare you for every good work, and unleash the destiny of God.
